DESCRIPTION:The food truck movement in Reno-Tahoe is thriving! More than 80 roam the region. Each week in the summertime\, you’ll find 35 to 45 Reno food trucks at our area’s premier food truck event\, Food Truck Fridays Reno. It’s one of the top 10 largest food truck events in the nation\, according to the Travel Channel. Reno Food Truck Fridays is held 4 – 9 p.m. each Friday from early June to late August in beautiful Idlewild Park in Reno. Attendees select from a wide range of food choices\, from over-the-top tacos\, decadent Southern fare\, juicy sliders\, fiery chicken wings\, and fresh-made pasta to slow-roasted barbecue\, gourmet hot dogs\, Asian bites\, as well as colorful and thirst-quenching shaved ice and many other cooling desserts. Come hungry because you will surely leave full. Do you like a bit of charity with your meal? Stop by the BJ’s Barbecue truck where local culinary students from the Academy of Arts\, Careers and Technology and Truckee Meadows Community College in Reno serve you Kick Ass Fries (a huge mound of fresh fries topped with shredded pork and sauce) or Whoop Ass Fries (a giant container of fries topped with savory brisket and sauce). Net proceeds support college scholarships and other needs for local culinary students. Wash down all the tasty food with a local craft brew\, tall mixed drink\, glass of wine\, or tart and sweet lemonade. Besides the Reno food trucks\, this free\, family-friendly event features live music\, a large playground with train rides for the kids\, and more. It’s a party in the park surrounded by Reno food trucks so bring your lawn chairs and blankets to kick back in the grass shaded by mature trees with your family and friends. DESCRIPTION:he Nevada Young Alumni Chapter invites the Northern Nevada community to Beer Fest – the region’s oldest and premier tasting event. The 27th annual scholarship fundraiser will take place on Saturday\, June 11 at Greater Nevada Field from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. \nSince 1994\, Beer Fest has enabled the Nevada Young Alumni Chapter to raise scholarship funds for deserving undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Nevada. They are proud to have awarded more than $85\,000 in scholarships over the past 15 years with nearly $60\,000 of that financial aid awarded over just the last four years. They plan to significantly grow that total in 2022 with the support of the community and their event sponsors: Bay Equity Home Loans\, Midtown Diamonds\, Battle Born Beer\, Custom Ink\, MelJane Media\, Reno Brew Card and Western Nevada Supply. \nEach Beer Fest attendee will receive a commemorative pint glass\, courtesy of Bay Equity Home Loans\, to taste the dozens of unique brews and spirits on tap for the evening. Raffle tickets will be available for purchase during the event for prize packages comprised of donations from numerous local businesses. The drawing for raffle prizes will be held towards the end of the event\, and winners must be present to claim their prize. \n“Our board is so excited to be bringing back our scholarship event after missing two years. The event will feature over various different brews and spirits from our dozens of vendors\, including many local breweries such as Lead Dog Brewing\, Pigeon Head Brewing and Huntsman Brewing.” said Melissa Ung\, President of the Nevada Young Alumni Chapter. “We are proud of the scholarship money we have been able to award to Nevada students from this event.” \nTickets are on sale now and can be purchased online at www.NevadaYAC.com. DESCRIPTION:The highly anticipated Pigs & Pinot event is back at Grand Sierra Resort and Casino (GSR) from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday\, June 11. For one night only at The Pool at GSR\, guests can enjoy a variety of dishes featuring locally raised pork paired with an exclusive selection of pinot noir wines all curated by Charlie Palmer Steak\, Reno’s only celebrity chef-owned restaurant. \nThe poolside affair will feature various stations with a variety of dishes for guests to savor.
