SUMMARY:An Evening to RAVE About! A Night in the City
DESCRIPTION:Family-style dining\, silent and live auctions\, raffle\, entertainment\, beer and wine. To benefit the R.A.V.E. Family Center: \nProviding respite to families caring for children with special needs while training high school volunteers to work with these very special children. \nFamilies that have children with special needs have their own special need: the need for time. That means time for mom to enjoy a workout. Time for couples to enjoy a date night. Or for families to catch a movie\, go bowling\, play Scrabble or settle into a nice\, quiet storytelling session. Those are the kinds of pleasures and pastimes that go a long way toward giving you peace\, power and the ability to connect with yourself and others who are occasionally lost in the process of focusing on a child with special challenges. \nIn the meantime\, while you’re enjoying your own moment of reprieve\, your child with special needs is likely enjoying his or her own form of respite and discovery as well. \nCreating these healthy moments of escape is what RAVE is all about\, little “time outs” with tremendously positive outcomes.

SUMMARY:38th Annual National Cowboy Poetry Gathering

Three decades later\, the tribe is now a nation of Western poets\, musicians\, artisans and storytellers\, sharing their creativity across the country\, telling their stories of hard work\, heartbreak and hilarity\, and what it means to make your way in the rangeland West. The 38th National Cowboy Poetry Gathering will take place in Elko\, Nevada\, Jan. 24-29\, 2022! We will be “Keeping the West Wild\,” inviting western poets\, songwriters\, artists\, artisans\, and land stewards to bring new and old stories to light as they endeavor to create a West that hosts healthy and hospitable landscapes and agriculture-based communities. More details will be available soon about the artist lineup and schedule\, so stay tuned. \nAnd in the meantime\, consider joining the Western Folklife Center as a member. This allows you early access to purchase 2022 Gathering tickets beginning Oct. 25\, 2021\, plus you can also watch our virtual event from this past January as well as full shows from the 2020 Gathering.
