DESCRIPTION:Nevada City’s annual Mardi Gras Celebration is set for Sunday\, February 27\, 2022. The annual event features a festive parade and Street Fair throughout historic downtown Nevada City\, offering up spirited fun for all ages \nNevada City has been known to throw a party and its version of Fat Tuesday is no exception! People come just for this colorful annual event that lights up the streets with bright costumes\, beads and a sense of playfulness. \nCome early for lunch and shopping. The Street Fair on N. Pine & Commercial Streets open from 12pm-4pm\, you can find accessories for your perfect costume\, shop hand-made gifts or pick up some extra beads for friends. Mardi Gras shirts\, masks will be available for sale\, along with vendors selling food\, drinks\, and more. \nSpectators will crowd the streets to enjoy the floats and revelers at the annual Mardi Gras Parade\, which starts at 2pm on Broad Street. Everyone is encouraged to wear festive Mardi Gras attire. \nAlong with the fun\, Nevada City also honors noteworthy citizens for their contributions to the community. Each year the Mardi Gras Planning Committee chooses four (4) individuals that have impacted Nevada City’s community positively to serve as the Mardi Gras King and Queen and the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess. The committee also honors a Grand Marshal\, who leads the parade.

SUMMARY:38th Annual National Cowboy Poetry Gathering
DESCRIPTION:It all began as a time and place where Western ranchers and cowboys could gather to share poems about their lives working cattle. Three decades later\, the tribe is now a nation of Western poets\, musicians\, artisans and storytellers\, sharing their creativity across the country\, telling their stories of hard work\, heartbreak and hilarity\, and what it means to make your way in the rangeland West. The 38th National Cowboy Poetry Gathering will take place in Elko\, Nevada\, Jan. 24-29\, 2022! We will be “Keeping the West Wild\,” inviting western poets\, songwriters\, artists\, artisans\, and land stewards to bring new and old stories to light as they endeavor to create a West that hosts healthy and hospitable landscapes and agriculture-based communities. More details will be available soon about the artist lineup and schedule\, so stay tuned. \nAnd in the meantime\, consider joining the Western Folklife Center as a member. Don’t miss the Eldorado Great Italian Festival\, October 9 & 10 in the heart of Reno. \n\nFESTIVAL TIMES\nOctober 9\, Saturday – 11am to 6pm\nOctober 10\, Sunday – 10am to 5pm\n  \nThe Eldorado Great Italian Festival transforms downtown Reno into Little Italy with a grape stomp\, wine walk\, an Italian farmers market\, food booths and incredible free\, live entertainment all weekend long.\n  \nA crowd favorite year after year continues to be the Great Italian Festival Sauce Cook-off. Italian families from across the West Coast bring their recipes to life right on the street for guests to taste. People’s Choice ballots for favorite sauce will be given with the purchase of pasta.\n  \nNo Italian Festival would be complete without plenty of homemade Italian food.
