SUMMARY:2024 Reno Jazz Festival: George
DESCRIPTION:The 2024 Reno Jazz Festival presents the groundbreaking ensemble\, GEORGE; the moniker derived from the Greek word georgos meaning “farmer” and “earthworker.” As heard on their 2023 debut recording\, “Letters to George\,” the members work in tandem to excavate and create intense and intriguing music\, the sound of which defies categories and labels. The visionary behind the quartet\, John Hollenbeck — an award-winning\, genre-crossing composer and percussionist — is joined by his equally-esteemed bandmates Anna Webber (sax/flute)\, Aurora Nealand (voice/sax/keyboards)\, and Chiquita Magic (keyboards/voice).

SUMMARY:Nate Smith
DESCRIPTION:After losing everything he owned in the Camp Fire in 2018 in Paradise\, CA\, Nate Smith turned to music. His unique\, soulful style is a mix of backwoods soul and rock’n’roll swagger. \nHits like Whiskey on You and World on Fire have been burning up the charts since 2022\, earning him his first Breakthrough Male Performer and Breakthrough Male video CMT Award Nominations. \nHis sound has become “perhaps country music’s fastest-rising beloved voice\,” according to The Tennessean. Smith’s unique style makes this one country concert you’re not going to want to miss.

SUMMARY:Tahoe Symphony: St Matthew Passion LIVE
DESCRIPTION:The St. Matthew Passion was written for two separate Choirs\, accompanied by two small Orchestras. In most Arias\, only one Orchestra provides accompaniment. The Choirs are sometimes separated\, but more often sing in unison or antiphony – moving the story forward and also providing commentary on the events. At different times\, the Choruses appear as an unruly mob\, or quiet witnesses\, or actual participants in the story. \nOriginally composed in Bach’s native tongue\, German\, the Tahoe Symphony will perform Part Two of Passion in English to honor legacy while bringing the Passion story to life for a broader audience. \nDates/Times:\nMarch 22\, 7 pm\, Reno (St John’s Episcopal Church)\nMarch 24\, 4 pm\, Reno (Trinity Episcopal Church)\nMarch 27\, 7 pm\, Incline Village (St Francis of Assisi)\nMarch 29\, 5 pm\, Gardnerville (Trinity Lutheran Church)

SUMMARY:Killer Queen: A Tribute To Queen
DESCRIPTION:Killer Queen formed back in June 1993. Their first public shows were at London University\, following in the footsteps of the real Queen who had played their first shows there 21 years earlier. \nBy 1995 Killer Queen’s UK popularity had grown to such an extent they secured a residency in London’s Strand Theatre attracting nationwide BBC coverage – the first tribute to have a show in the West End. \nEven though the band never had any connection to Queen officially their reputation continued to grow both in the UK and abroad. In 1999 they returned from a tour of and Europe and Russia for an awards ceremony in Leicester Square\, hosted by Suggs from Madness. He announced they had won the award for “Worldwide Best Tribute Band”
