Hits like “Boot Scootin’ Boogie\,” “My Maria” and “Believe” have propelled the duo to more than 30 million albums sold\, with the New York Times heralding “together they helped drive the power-country era of the early-to-mid 1990s and continued to benefit from the sea change in the genre they helped initiate right through their most recent albums.” Their original “Merle Haggard meets The Rolling Stones” vibe made them progressive stars in their own right. The duo’s recently released collaboration project REBOOT debuted at No. One on Billboard’s Top Country Albums. The impressive feat marks the first time the duo has topped the album charts since 2009 while simultaneously earning the duo their 10th Billboard 200 Top 10 album\, the most of any country duo or group in the chart’s history.  In 2019 the duo was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in the “Modern Era Artist” category. In 2021 Brooks & Dunn undertook their first nationwide tour in ten years with their anticipated The REBOOT 2021 TOUR\, as well as wrapped their hugely successful and the longest-running country residency in Las Vegas\, “REBA\, BROOKS & DUNN: Together in Vegas.” \nFor more information\, visit www.brooks-dunn.com.

SUMMARY:Meat and Drink Soiree
DESCRIPTION:Nevada Builders Alliance\, the state’s largest construction and building trade association\, and Friends of Sutro Tunnel Charity\, a non-profit focused on preserving and restoring the historic site in Dayton\, announce their first ‘Meat and Drink’ event hosted at the Sutro Tunnel on Thursday\, May 4. The event will feature food\, whiskey tastings\, music\, period reenactors and tours of the Sutro Tunnel site. Tickets for the event are $100 and are available now online here. \n  \n“We are extremely excited to partner with Nevada Builders Alliance to celebrate and raise awareness for Sutro Tunnel\, which is a storied landmark in the community\,” said Chris Pattison\, manager of Friends of Sutro Tunnel Charity. “This will be a chance to immerse people in Nevada history as they explore the historic buildings\, enjoy some food and partially explore the tunnel. This celebration has kicked off with a generous donation from the Nevada Builders Foundation and through the event\, we hope people will see the significance the tunnel had on mining history and join our mission to restore and preserve this site for future generations.” \n  \nThe Sutro Tunnel is a 3.8-mile drainage tunnel that leads to the mines of Virginia City. Constructed in 1897\, the tunnel was shut down in the 1940’s and reopened for tours in 2023. Friends of Sutro Tunnel Charity is currently working on tunnel restoration\, as well as ongoing site cleanup and protection of its buildings. The event will allow the public to see what has been updated since 2022 and progress on the inside of the tunnel while enjoying live music from Carson Chandler\, catered dinner\, reenactors from the Virginia City Silent Riders and Virginia City Outlaws\, plus whiskey tastings provided by Frey Ranch Distillery. \n  \n“The restoration of the Sutro Tunnel is going to be an all hands-on-deck venture and we are avid supporters of all things Nevada built\, including this historic site\,” said Jaron Hildebrand\, executive director of Nevada Builders Alliance. “We already have members involved in the project so our partnership on this event is another way for us to support our industry\, the tunnel’s restoration and share this gem with the community.” \n  \nThis event is made possible by generous sponsors\, including the Nevada Builders Foundation\, Pokrajac Corporation\, Bank Saloon and Frey Ranch Distillery. Sponsorship opportunities are still available. To donate or become a sponsor\, please email membership@nevadabuilders.org.

SUMMARY:“Dirty” Movies - Thought Provoking Films About Our Food & Land
DESCRIPTION:Our First Dirty Movies Night features Kiss the Ground which is narrated and featuring Woody Harrelson. Kiss the Ground is an inspiring and groundbreaking film that reveals the first viable solution to our climate crisis. Kiss the Ground reveals that\, by regenerating the world’s soils\, we can completely and rapidly stabilize Earth’s climate\, restore lost ecosystems and create abundant food supplies. \n\nJoin us and explore the power of food and community to heal our environment and society. In the three films featured\, we will learn how agriculture can fight climate change\, the importance of reconnecting food pathways for indigenous tribes and how we can all hold corporations accountable for degrading the environment. Weather permitting\, the films will be screened “drive-in movie style” outside the Tahoe Food Hub warehouse in the parking lot (hence why the films start later each time). 75 chairs will be provided but guests are encouraged to bring their own folding chair or blanket.

SUMMARY:We Love Our Pets\, You Can Too
DESCRIPTION:Nevada Humane Society (NHS) is asking for the public’s help to increase adoptions as the shelter is nearing capacity to take in more animals. NHS is celebrating National Rescue Dog Day (May 20\, 2023) by putting on an event: “We Love Our Animals. You Can Too.” This promotional event is to help adoptable pets get into loving homes as well as extend a welcoming invitation to our amazing\, supportive community into the NHS Reno shelter for tours and information. Please help us spread the word to the community about our event. \nNationwide\, animal shelters have been reaching capacity and unable to take in animals in need. Housing shortages and cost of living increases (including pet related care) have affected adoption rates across the country. NHS has seen this trend on a local level\, as potential adopters often cite the need for pet-friendly housing and affordable pet food as barriers. Regardless\, the organization needs more fosters\, volunteers\, and animal enrichment resources for the animals at the shelter. This event is designed to bring community awareness on these issues. \nAttendees can expect: \n– ???? Tours of the NHS Reno shelter (2825 Longley Ln B\, Reno\, NV 89502) will be given every 20 minutes from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm\, then again from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Tours have limited spots available. Interested persons can use this link to sign up for a tour: https://httpsnevadahumanesociety.org/tour_signup \n– ???????? Food trucks and vendors will be in the NHS parking lot throughout the business day from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. There will be sweets\, treats\, and food available for purchase to anyone who attends. \n– ???????? If anyone is interested in adopting any available animals following the tours\, NHS will be open for adoptions. All interested adopters can find more details about animal adoptions online at https://nevadahumanesociety.org/adoptions/
