SUMMARY:Atlantis Spirited Dining Series: Plumpjack\, Cade & Odette
DESCRIPTION:The Atlantis Steakhouse presents the Plumpjack\, Cade & Odette Wine Dinner. \nPlumpJack Winery sits squarely in the heart of Napa Valley’s renowned Oakville region\, surrounded by a 42-acre estate vineyard highly-regarded for the quality of its Cabernet Sauvignon. Both their winery building and their vineyard date back to the 1800s\, when winemaking pioneers first took advantage of a unique position on the valley floor. The east side of their vineyard lies along the foothills of the Vaca mountain range and yields grapes with the kind of bold fruit character that comes from well-drained hillside soils. To the west\, their estate lies in the Napa River flood zone. Here\, their vines take root in rich\, deep clay soild\, for grapes with softer\, more supple varietal character \nCADE Estate. With a shared vision\, Gavin Newsom\, Gordon Getty and John Conover imagined the addition of a complementary estate vineyard to the valley floor terroir of their Oakville estate at PlumpJack Estate Winery. In 2005\, that dream came to fruition in the form of a 54-acre estate\, elevated high above the fog line\, on the dramatic slopes of Howell Mountain – it would become CADE Estate Winery. \nGiven the opportunity to build the winery from the ground up\, Newsom\, Getty and Conover were committed to constructing a state-of-the-art winery that would pay tribute to the land\, both aesthetically and ecologically. \nThis commitment would go above and beyond the standard benchmark of environmental responsibility\, especially in the world of wine. The end goal\, to construct the first CCOF (California Certified Organic Farmers) organically farmed\, LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold Certified Estate Winery in the Napa Valley. \nOdette Estate.Tucked under the dramatic palisades of the Stags Leap District\, right along Silverado Trail sits the newest member to the PlumpJack and CADE family\, Odette Estate. \nThe Stags Leap District’s distinctive soils are famous for imparting unique characteristics to wines—including extraordinary power delivered with delicately articulated structure\, varietal aromas and flavors. This strong\, feminine personality recalls the charisma of Odette\, a woman who appears throughout history\, literature and dance. The name “Odette” even shows up in the wine world\, at the infamous Paris Wine Tasting of 1976\, in which a red wine from Stags Leap District took top honors over the French. \nOdette’s Winemaker Jeff Owens seeks to harness the strong character of the terroir in order to craft wines that are both bold and elegant. The estate is set on 45 acres\, planted mainly to Cabernet Sauvignon.
