SUMMARY:Concours d'Elegance
DESCRIPTION:The Lake Tahoe Concours d’Elegancebegan as a few wooden boat owners coming together to share their passion. Since then\, Concours has consistently raised the bar year after year to earn the title of North America’s premier wooden boat show. \nThe show has spanned across four marinas and nearly five decades. It was 1972 when that handful of Tahoe Yacht Club Members and their friends gathered at Chamber’s Landing for the first ever Concours. The show moved to Tahoe City’s Tahoe Boat Company in 1976 and then to the Sierra Boat Company in Carnelian Bay in 1993. In 2014\, Concours came full circle and returned to the West Shore and the birthplace of wooden pleasure boating on Lake Tahoe. It now calls Obexer’s Boat Company – the first wooden boat dealership in Tahoe and as classic as the Concours boats themselves – home. \nIn 1994\, Concours was given a cause with the founding of the Tahoe Yacht Club Foundation. TYCF’s mission is to raise money to help preserve the environment and history of the Lake Tahoe Basin. The Lake Tahoe Concours d’Elegance is the Foundation’s largest event. Since it’s induction\, and thanks to the Concourscommunity\, the Foundation has been able to award over $410\,000 in grants to various maritime-related\, charitable\, and cultural organizations. \nIn the beginning\, the purpose of the Lake Tahoe Concours d’Elegance was simple – enjoy the past-time of wooden boat tradition. The show quickly became a must-see display and a way to educate the public about classic watercraft from the past and present. It evolved into a way to give back to Lake Tahoe. The Lake Tahoe Concours d’Elegance is now a benchmark of the wooden boat community\, renowned all over the world for its quality of boat exhibits and high judging standards and practices. Through the prestige\, Concours remains true to its roots. Its main purpose was\, is\, and always will be to share the passion of wooden boats with the world.

SUMMARY:Little Feat with the Dirty Dozen Brass Band
DESCRIPTION:Little Feat is the classic example of a fusion of many styles and musical genres made into something utterly distinctive.  Their brilliant  musicianship transcends boundaries\, uniting California rock\, funk\, folk\, jazz\, country\, rockabilly\, and New Orleans swamp boogie into a rich gumbo\, that has been leading people in joyful dance ever since. \nIt began in 1969 when Frank Zappa was smart enough to fire Lowell George from the Mothers of Invention and tell him to go start a band of his own.  Soon after\, Lowell connected with Bill Payne\, which stirred up sparks.  They then found drummer Richie Hayward.\nThey were quickly signed by Warner Bros. and began working on the first of twelve albums with that venerable company.  The first album\, Little Feat\, featured the instant-classic tune “Willin’\,” and the follow-up Sailin’ Shoes added “Easy to Slip\,” “Trouble\,” “Tripe Face Boogie\,” “Cold Cold Cold” and the title track to their repertoire.  Paul Barrére\, Kenny Gradney (bass)\, and Sam Clayton (percussion)\, joined up\, and the latter two remain rock-solid members of Little Feat’s rhythm section. \n1973’s Dixie Chicken gave them the title track and “Fat Man in the Bathtub\,” as good a blues as any rock band has ever written.  Their career to that point was summed up with the live Waiting for Columbus\, truly one of the best live albums rock has ever heard.\nFifty years on the road cost them Lowell George\, then Richie Hayward and Paul Barrére\, but the music has carried them forward. When you spend your life on the road you can get eaten up by the stresses\, or you can hold on to your music and your friends and the joy of the people out front and keep the priorities straight the way the Featsters have. \nLittle Feat in 2021 is:  Bill Payne\, Keyboards and Vocals; Sam Clayton\, Percussion and Vocals; Fred Tackett\, Guitars and Vocals\, Kenny Gradney\, Bass; Scott Sharrard\, Guitars and Vocals; and Tony Leone\, drums. \nFifty years on\, they’ve been up and they’ve been down and they know where they belong—standing or sitting behind their instruments\, playing for you.  And anything’s possible\, because the end is not in sight. \nThe Dirty Dozen Brass Band \nCelebrating over 40 years since their founding in 1977\, New Orleans-based Dirty Dozen Brass Band has taken the traditional foundation of brass band music and incorporated it into a blend of genres including Bebop Jazz\, Funk and R&B/Soul. This unique sound\, described by the band as a ‘musical gumbo\,’ has allowed the Dirty Dozen to tour across 5 continents and more than 30 countries\, record 12 studio albums and collaborate with a range of artists from Modest Mouse to Widespread Panic to Norah Jones. Forty-plus years later\, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band is a world famous music machine whose name is synonymous with genre-bending romps and high-octane performances.
