SUMMARY:LunaFest
DESCRIPTION:OUR STORY. OUR MISSION.\n\n\n\nBack in 1999\, LUNA® was introduced as the very first nutrition bar for women. The mission was to create momentum\, champion women\, and spark change. To fuel women’s ambition as well as their bodies. \nThat vision inspired us to create LUNAFEST® in 2001\, the world’s first all-women traveling film festival. \nFor the past 21 years\, we’ve celebrated a powerful and diverse set of women filmmakers and given their short films a national platform. Our first event was a small but hopeful screening in California. Since then\, we’ve celebrated and shared the work of more than 170 women filmmakers\, raising over $6.5 million for local women’s causes. Now our unique platform is showcased at over 200 events each season creating impact through dollars raised and awareness built toward some of the most pressing issues facing society today.

SUMMARY:Gabriel Iglesias
DESCRIPTION:Beloved Mexican-American comedian Gabriel Iglesias is a man of many talents\, and he employs them all in his uproarious stand-up act.  In addition to being a gifted storyteller Iglesias is a master of funny voices and absurd sound effects\, and his unexpected noises never fail to have audiences in stitches at his live shows. SUMMARY:Dance Theatre of Harlem
DESCRIPTION:Dance Theatre of Harlem is a leading dance institution of unparalleled global acclaim\, encompassing a professional touring company\, a leading studio school\, and a national and international education and community outreach program. Each component of Dance Theatre of Harlem carries a solid commitment towards enriching the lives of young people and adults around the world through the arts. Founded in 1969 by Arthur Mitchell and Karel Shook\, Dance Theatre of Harlem is considered “one of ballet’s most exciting undertakings” (The New York Times). Shortly after the assassination of The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King\, Jr.\, Mitchell was inspired to start a school that would offer children — especially those in Harlem\, the community in which he was born — the opportunity to learn about dance and the allied arts. Now in its sixth decade\, Dance Theatre of Harlem has grown into a multi-cultural dance institution with an extraordinary legacy of providing opportunities for creative expression and artistic excellence that continues to set standards in the performing arts. Dance Theatre of Harlem has achieved unprecedented success\, bringing innovative and bold new forms of artistic expression to audiences in New York City\, across the country and around the world. Now a singular presence in the ballet world\, the Dance Theatre of Harlem Company tours nationally and internationally\, presenting a powerful vision for ballet in the 21st century. The 18-member\, multi-ethnic company performs a forward-thinking repertoire that includes treasured classics\, neoclassical works by George Balanchine and resident choreographer Robert Garland\, as well as innovative contemporary works that use the language of ballet to celebrate Arthur Mitchell’s belief that belongs to everyone. Through performances\, community engagement and arts education\, the Company carries forward Dance Theatre of Harlem’s message of empowerment through the arts for all. \nSponsored by Washoe County

SUMMARY:Reno Phil the Classix Series: the Organ Symphony
DESCRIPTION:The Reno Phil’s Principal Trombonist\, Jim Albrecht\, will be the featured soloist for Appermont’s Colors for Trombone\, a creative and imaginative piece that explores the wide color palette of the solo trombone. The program will conclude with a side-by-side performance featuring the Reno Phil Orchestra and Reno Phil Youth Symphony Orchestra playing Saint-Saëns’ most popular symphony. Camille Saint-Saëns’ Symphony No. 3 —known best as the “Organ” Symphony for its grand final movement featuring its namesake instrument—was written in 1886 at the height of his career.
